I finally woke up early enough to get the free hotel breakfast!
We decided to take the detour to the Grand Canyon since Jessica had never been there before. Did you know it now cost $30 a car to get in? That's good for several days though, if only we had that long to hang out. The place was packed. We ended up in the 2nd to last of the overflow parking. Lucky for us they have these "free" buses that run non stop and take you all over the park.
Busing around
They said these are caribou, they just hang out and eat while people stop and take pictures.
We went all over for a stupid penny smashing machine, found one. Oh wait!
luckily there was another one across the way lol.
Some day I really want to go down INTO the Grand Canyon. That's a bit of bucket list item for me.
We made it to California. I thought for sure I was going to fall asleep on this last leg. I had to pull over and walk around at a rest stop for a minute. I also ate about 10000 sunflower seeds.
This Super 8 was really nice. Although the power went out in the middle of the night and Jess freaked out because it was so quiet and dark (she has to sleep with a fan for white noise usually lol). I was like eh, we're fine ;)

I've never driven cross country. Rick did when we moved from PA to Seattle. I flew weeks later. I think I would love to do it....in a Winnebago.
