Yesterday I got off work early. I picked up Scott and then we went to his follow up doctor appointment with the cardiologist to find out what they learned from the cardiolite stress test. After waiting two weeks and an hour in the waiting room we found out pretty much nothing. That's right, total waste of time!
Scott is allergic to iodine and was lead to believe that this test was a replacement for an angiogram. Instead we just found out that it shows "yes there is a problem" but apparently doesn't show what or where. Well, thanks for telling us something we already knew.
So now after all that he has to get an angiogram anyways. They are just going to dope him up with Benadryl and prednisone before the procedure. Which sounds pretty scary but when I asked the doctor how many people he's had die on him doing it this way he said "none". That's a pretty good track record I guess.
This doctor has THE WORST bedside manor and doesn't really volunteer much information so I'm like the Chatty Cathy trying to get questions answered and understand things that are going on without getting pissed off with his demeanor. This is the same doctor that I got pissed off with when Scott had his blood clot and he grilled me about how I know he's allergic to iodine. (I wish I had some kind of paper work from when that happened 23 years ago but I don't.) I actually apologized to Scott when we came out for talking so much but he said it's ok that's why he wanted me there.
Always the Mom I guess, right?
PS going back and reading about that day in the hospital I linked to above is interesting. We've since learned that he has Factor V Leiden and THAT is why his body makes blood clots. I had all three kids tested to see if they have it and both of the girls have it and Trevor does not.
You were being a good advocate for your husband. Good on you!
ReplyDeletePS...I need your email address. When you comment on my blog, you show as a no-reply, so I can't respond to you. =(
Oh Julie, I'm sorry you're going through this. This is why my hubby likes me to go to the appointments with him. That and he never remembers anything that was said the goof ball.
ReplyDeleteI wish you the best ((hugs))
