Still Running

Except for last week where I was sick and dying of snot I’ve been doing my “zero to half marathon” training pretty well. Last night I went out for my 40 minutes of 7 minutes running, 3 minutes walking intervals. It was the same on Monday. The week before was 5 minutes of running and 3 minutes of walking and I thought I was going to die then so I was a bit worried about the jump to two more minutes but I’ve actually been doing ok. Well other than checking the time over and over again hoping the 7 minutes is almost over haha.

It’s amazing how 3 minutes of RUNNING seems so long when you are first starting the program and then 3 minutes of WALKING seems to go by so fast. Weird how that works.

Last night when I was almost done this car came up behind me and then along next to me and a woman was telling me I was doing such a great job. I was thinking if you only knew how much better I used to be. But then I was also thinking how nice that is for someone to be so encouraging. I think I might know who it was but it was dark so I couldn’t see her face.

I’ve been running/walking the three lakes even though I have extra “lake” to walk when I’m done. I figure as the weeks progress that will obviously change but fun to see how much farther I can get for now. I’m thinking when I get to the longer Saturday runs I’m going to go somewhere outside the neighborhood to run because it gets really boring running the same thing all the time.

I’m signed up for a 10k on the 13th and I’m thinking of doing one on the 27th also because they have a special “connector medal” which sounds cool. Trevor’s birthday is on the 28th though so I need to figure out what we are doing for that before I sign up.

I’m also looking forward to the March run in Del Valle. I’ve done that one a couple times now and I really like it out there even though I feel like I’m going to die while I’m doing it. BIG hills.

Hills make life more exciting I guess!

  1. Good job Julie. I wish I could do that. I could walk it - can't run it.
You'll be back to your "old" self in no time.

  2. I wish I could make myself try running again. I was up to a mile and a half (slowly) 2 years ago, and now I quail at the thought of even running for a full minute.

  3. Good for you! I need to do some more cardio. Maybe in the spring...
