Home Sick

I'm home sick today. So worn down from the last week and my throat hurts. It's impossible to sleep in here with the cat licking the pillow case and Trevor not being able to find his sunglasses and Scott not being able to find his wallet and the dogs have to poop. So I'm up.

Sounds like a good time to play catch up on the old blog!

So today's post is February's animal pictures! Who doesn't love a fuzzy face!

Ah Buster.

A couple pictures of Jess and her husky puppies. They have all gone to new homes now. Sometimes she sends me pictures she gets from their new owners. They are SO DAMN CUTE!

This is Nana, my friend Traci's St. Bernard. She's like WHY am I in the house and you guys are all out there? She's standing on the bench seat of the kitchen table. She actually stood ON THE TABLE for a couple seconds. Then I think she got put to bed lol.

These two. Always curled up together in front of the heater.

TGIF

The septic tank is supposed to get pumped out this morning. Scott took the morning (or day if it takes that long) off to take care of it. He has it unburied but says he can’t get the lid off.  Yeah fun.

We are having an active shooter training at work today. Nothing like learning how not to die at work while at work.

Apparently the job I applied for got so many applications they aren’t even going to look at mine. At first I thought it meant I didn’t make the panel but now I think the message means that they just don’t even need mine since they had so many people apply. Which I think is not really fair but whatever. I’m ok with not getting that job since I don’t really want to work in another office. That job is one up from mine and you have pretty much no customer interaction which isn't all that fun either. I actually like talking to people who we are doing all this work for sometimes. It reminds you why this whole program exists.

Oh which reminds me about this one customer we have. Last week he was in Hawaii. He was complaining about how bored he was and how he was there with his kids and their in-laws and how the whole trip was just took long. I think he said they were there for five days. Now I don’t know about you but I would take five days of doing nothing in a heartbeat. I’m pretty sure I could find something to keep me busy on an island with the ocean too. Like cat napping while listening to waves or reading on the beach. If I had a margarita that would be divine.

Tomorrow morning I’m doing that race, which will be good to do something physical. I only ran once this week because on Wednesday I decided that I couldn’t take all the clean clothes baskets full of clothes any longer and spent some time putting those away and then the whole “the water won’t go down” problem started and then I just wanted to go hide in a hole somewhere.

I thought about running yesterday but then decided that I’d rather go hang out with my friend for a little mental break instead. Turned out to be a little party over there since two other friends had stopped by. We all sat out on the porch and somehow resisted eating brownies, cookies and pretzels. Go me!

The candy jar at work got refilled yesterday too. Oh man it was killing me for a while. Snickers! God I love Snickers. I actually used to eat those A LOT when I was pregnant with Jessica. Amazingly I didn’t gain 100 pounds while I was pregnant with her.

Off to work! Have a good day everyone. J

Shitters full

Ugh so it appears that our septic tank is full! I called someone last night and left a message, hoping they call me this morning to come and pump it out. HOPEFULLY that will solve the problem of the water not wanting to drain. Scott said he was done messing with the plumbing and to call a plumber. He forgets that last time we did that the plumbing still didn't work right and we were out $150 and he still had to fix it himself. Sucks for him but hey I don't like washing people's dirty under ware either but that apparently is part of my "job".

I so wish that once you flushed the toilet you never had to worry about it again. That's the one upside to living in town, for sure!

In other exciting news, Tuesday was one week of not eating any flour or sweets and I was down 3.4 pounds. WOOT WOOT! Very exciting to see the scale drop again. Hopefully I can keep it headed in the right direction. I was feeling so disgusted with myself for gaining weight back.

Last night while I was at my mom's little house boiling water for a bath because her water heater died and she never replaced it I really was like OMG I so want to eat some chocolate. She had chocolate there too but somehow I resisted.

Trevor's birthday is Sunday (he's going to be 13!) and the plan is to take him to Boomers which is like a miniature golf, arcade, etc place on Saturday night and then have a family party Sunday. If the plumbing is still jacked up though we will have to do something else. I asked him what he wanted for his meal on Sunday and he said meatloaf. He's so funny. I've never known a kid to like meatloaf so much. So that at least is still on my meal plan.

I'm also signed up to do a race Saturday morning. I debated on signing up for it or not since it's the whole party weekend and I should be cleaning house but I really wanted to do it because it has an extra medal that you get for doing the last one I did (which I still haven't blogged about!) and this one. Should be a nice hectic weekend haha.

So wish me luck with the shit tank.

Coyote Hills 10k

Well I survived the dentist yesterday. At first he said he couldn't see anything wrong but then decided maybe these two tiny cavities were what was giving me trouble so he filled those. He also had my teeth sand blasted with a power washer of some sort. That was loads of fun with shit flying all over my face. My teeth look nice though.

I really need to go to the grocery store since that didn't happen yesterday but Scott said he'd go for me. So nice! I'm really tired. I don't know if it's from the whole dentist thing yesterday, sugar withdrawals or what but I could so take a nap!

But first, a little blogging.

Way back in January I did a 10k at Coyote Hills. My friend Heather went with me. She was running the half marathon that started fifteen minutes before my race. This place doesn't have a lot of parking so they had us park at a school and then take shuttles to the event.

As soon as we got there it started raining. Then it started POURING. Heather's race started and then lucky for me, it stopped raining. When I started the race I had two sweatshirts on but by the time I was running for awhile I was down to my tank with everything tied around my waist. The sun came out and it was super bright!

For awhile I was doing my run 5 minute walk 3 minute intervals for my zero to half marathon training but then there were some hills and so I just gave that up. It's much easier to walk up and run down large hills. But then it was wet and slippery and muddy in places so that wasn't all that easy either.

I ended with at time of 1:23:39 and 23rd out of 30 in my age group. I totally wasn't worried about my time when I was running though since I was more into just being able to run for longer periods of time. Still happy that it wasn't too bad though lol.

After the race was over I walked through and got some snacks and hung out for awhile and then all of a sudden the sky opened up and it started pouring again. Poor Heather was still out running but I sent her a message that I was getting on the shuttle to go back to the car and would meet her there. She wasn't too far behind me so that was good! Talk about a wet start and ending.  I ended up getting a head ache on the way home and then the next day I was sick. Not sure if it was from too much exertion and being all wet or if I was going to get sick anyways but that kind of sucked!

What's Up!

So much to post about but I'll start with what's going on today. I have another half an hour to kill being home by myself (except for the animals of course, one of who is sitting on my lap) and then I'm off to the dentist. JOY! I freaking hate the dentist but the last time I was sick I was pretty sure all my teeth were rotten and going to have to be pulled out via Castaway-style. Thank God that went away after I got better but I figured I should probably keep my appointment because I do like to chew some steak every once in awhile. If you ever doubt how important your teeth are hang out with some 80 year olds that have limited food choices because they don't have anything to chew it with. True story.

So I decided over the weekend that I'm going to go flour-less and sweets-less until the end of the month. I just can't get into just counting calories and I just feel myself slipping farther and farther into the fast food drive ins. So I figured this will pretty much take care of that. No flour or sweets for the rest of the month. We'll see how much of withdraws I go through and how much I want to kill everyone haha. I'm hoping it will help me drop a few pounds (starting weight 181.4, so I can remember later).

Of course I ate plenty of both yesterday when I went to lunch with my high school friend Twila. I was like bring on the croissant sandwich, corn chowder and cheesecake for dessert! Always having a last meal, aren't we? I didn't take any pictures of us at lunch but Twila looks exactly the same. Which is freaking amazing because she's a high school English teacher. That's enough to make anyone age, but I don't even think she had any wrinkles around her eyes. Lucky bitch!

Before I went to meet her for lunch I worked on the yard a bit (and A LOT the day before) and then later in the evening I went over to my friend's dock and enjoyed the sunset and some wine.

After I was there for a bit I realized that everyone was sick. Ugh, please God don't let me get sick. I have way too much do to for the next month plus.

Oh and in other news for today I applied for a new work position. It closes today so then it's just a wait and see if I made the panel for the first step. Arg so scary. It is for in a different office but about $10k more a year and has the option of some teleworking, which would be AWESOME.

So that's today's excitement. Guess I should go brush my teeth and floss for the dentist.

Happy Birthday!

To ME!

Tomorrow is my birthday. I made it another year lol. A little bit fluffier and with pimples to boot. Ugh. Guess that's what I get for turning 21 (x2).

This weekend was a lot of fun. Friday night I went over to my mom's house for a "girls night" with her and Melissa, my sister in law Maegen and niece Adrian. We had pizza, pie and ice cream and watched a couple movies. The Intern which I fell asleep for the last 5-10 minutes of (of course) and then No Escape which had me at full attention and wide awake, what a movie!

Saturday I spent the morning doing laundry and decorating a hat to wear to the Mardi Gras party down at the clubhouse. I only tried to burn my fingers off once with the hot glue (holy crap when will I learn?)  The party started at four which was kind of early. Originally when it was planned the gal in charge was thinking it would be a dreary February day but instead it was gorgeous outside and around 70 out. I think we would have had a little bit better turn out if it was a bit later and crappier weather lol. But I did still have fun hanging out with friends at the party and in the bar (it's all connected). I look horrible in the pictures but oh well it is what it is. Need to get back on the low carb protein shake train again. Just after my birthday....

Today (Sunday) I spent the day with my friend. I went over to her house and got to hold the new baby Adalie (you know you're getting old when your friends start becoming Grandparents, right?) and then we went out for lunch and shopping and then came back to her house and watched the Food Network haha.

The boys went to a Super Bowl party and still aren't home. They must be having fun!

I took my birthday off of work and my kids don't have school tomorrow so it should be a nice relaxing day (I hope) and we'll go out to dinner somewhere, although I haven't decided where yet!

Still Running

Except for last week where I was sick and dying of snot I’ve been doing my “zero to half marathon” training pretty well. Last night I went out for my 40 minutes of 7 minutes running, 3 minutes walking intervals. It was the same on Monday. The week before was 5 minutes of running and 3 minutes of walking and I thought I was going to die then so I was a bit worried about the jump to two more minutes but I’ve actually been doing ok. Well other than checking the time over and over again hoping the 7 minutes is almost over haha.

It’s amazing how 3 minutes of RUNNING seems so long when you are first starting the program and then 3 minutes of WALKING seems to go by so fast. Weird how that works.

Last night when I was almost done this car came up behind me and then along next to me and a woman was telling me I was doing such a great job. I was thinking if you only knew how much better I used to be. But then I was also thinking how nice that is for someone to be so encouraging. I think I might know who it was but it was dark so I couldn’t see her face.

I’ve been running/walking the three lakes even though I have extra “lake” to walk when I’m done. I figure as the weeks progress that will obviously change but fun to see how much farther I can get for now. I’m thinking when I get to the longer Saturday runs I’m going to go somewhere outside the neighborhood to run because it gets really boring running the same thing all the time.

I’m signed up for a 10k on the 13th and I’m thinking of doing one on the 27th also because they have a special “connector medal” which sounds cool. Trevor’s birthday is on the 28th though so I need to figure out what we are doing for that before I sign up.

I’m also looking forward to the March run in Del Valle. I’ve done that one a couple times now and I really like it out there even though I feel like I’m going to die while I’m doing it. BIG hills.

Hills make life more exciting I guess!
