Road Trip Day 3

Sunday we got up and cleaned up our stuff, loaded it in the car, checked out and then went out and checked out the beach. We were all wishing we had at least one more day there to hang out.

The back of the hotel, we were on the first row of windows on the left about 3 in.

We had so much fun on the beach. Definitely need to take my Mom to the tide pools in Monterey some time. Eventually we had to pull ourselves away to meet up with Stephanie since she made us a quiche for lunch.

After lunch we went for a ride to get the lounge chair (which I never took a picture of!) and to do some sightseeing.

We went to Fogarty State Beach, which was pretty cool. There's a creek that feeds into the ocean. We had fun just looking at all the stuff that gets washed up. Lots of smooth little drift wood pieces and little shells.

Then we drove down the coast a bit to Devil's Punchbowl to look for whales. We didn't see any though.

We did meet a weird guy and saw a bunch of surfers though

Then we picked up the lounge chair and went back to Stephanie's. She made us BBQ Salmon & steak for dinner. We ended the night by playing a game of Scrabble (which I smoked everyone on, thank you Words with Friends) and then hit the sack. Melissa and I slept in the guest room on a futon. I had to take a picture of all her shoes!

The next morning we got up and packed up, had some bagels and then hit the road. We had a 10 hour trip ahead of us.

Road Trip Day 2

We went through the drive through at Taco Bell for lunch in Oregon. Melissa loves Taco Bell lol. We got a nice whiff of pot while we were waiting. Apparently it's legal there now. I guess it might as well be since it seems everyone is always smoking it out in the open now anyways!

Other than stopping for a few potty breaks we went straight to the hotel. Oh and we also saw this cute place off the side of the freeway but it was closed.

Only open on the weekends boo.

Eventually we got to Lincoln City, Oregon. We had a reservation at Surftides Hotel. My Mom had left me in charge of the hotels and stuff and I had this one as a surprise. Right on the ocean with an ocean view room. She was super excited with it.

These are from the next day but you can see the inside

Didn't use the fireplace but it was cute

My Mom called my Dad when we got there and he had given his notice at work that day. He is retiring at the end of November after 35 years.  Happy day for all!

My Mom's friend Stephanie, who we were going to see lived right up the road so she came over to the hotel restaurant to meet us for dinner. The restaurant is called Mist.

Cute little mural type thing on the wall..

Dinner party for 4

I had the fish tacos, which were SUPER SPICY. Had to eat a little more bread when I was done to cool my tongue.

After dinner we went back to our room and hung out. Our plan for the next day was to get up and go onto the beach before we left to go to Stephanie's.

Road Trip With Mom Day 1

Last weekend I went on a road trip with my Mom and Melissa. The main goal was to go to my Mom's friend's house in Oregon and get this lounge chair thing she had. I know, crazy lol. But that's my Mom for ya! Oh and to visit her friend that moved up there too lol.

So originally it was just going to be the two of us but Melissa asked if she could go too so we figured we could squish her in. We left Thursday morning.

Our first destination was Weed, California. I picked there for our first stop because it was about half way to Oregon and near Mt. Shasta. I figured that would be fun for Melissa to see and I had never been there either.

We stopped in Williams for lunch at Granzella's Restaurant. My Mom said that they went there with her friend before and it was good. We sat in the restaurant part but I found the bar area when I went to the bathroom. I was kind of wishing we had ate in there. Kind of crappy pictures but there were TONS of animals hanging all over the walls. Kind of creepy but kind of cool too.

I got the special which was a grilled chicken bruschetta sandwich. I forgot to take a picture of it until I made it ugly lol. They had a big salad bar/buffet type thing that I didn't really notice until I heard the waitress talk about it. Maybe if we ever go there again I'll get that :)

After lunch we were back on the road to Weed.  Talk about a boring ride. All up I-5.  I was glad when we finally got to our hotel, The Comfort Inn-Mount Shasta Area. We just ate out of my Mom's bags of food for a light dinner. I think we came home with the same amount of food in the bags even though we ate a bunch of it, not sure how that happened lol.

After taking a break for a bit we went to go "see the town".  WHICH was all closed at 6:30 haha

I tried to get Melissa to take a picture with the bears but she wouldn't do it.

The arch to Weed

I had got the "Roadside America" app and found all the things for Weed. Here's the Weed Like to Welcome You sign

Random totem pole in a parking lot

and the next day I found Mr. Weed. The sun was all funky so it was hard to get a picture

This is behind Abner

We walked up and down the main drag and went into the little thrift stores and antique stores. Love this little mural

This was such a cute yard

So my Mom found this cute couch. I was like um there is no way we can fit that in the car. She ended up paying for it and then talking my Dad into going back to get it the next week. Crazy woman.

You know you're old when you see light bulbs in an antique store.

Mom liked the street lights

Holy Trolls!

We drove around the the little area for a bit just for fun. There are some really cute houses there. There was a huge fire there last year and a lot of houses were lost. We saw a lot of modular homes and such going up to replace the homes lost.

After that we were back on the road!
