I've seen a few New Years in my 37 years. There's only a few that really stand out to me though.
I remember being at a friend's house and watching the Dick Clark's NYE show on her mom's big waterbed. Counting down and then running outside to bang pots and pans.
I remember the year that my new husband and I "rang it in" and my mom called and left a message on the answering machine. Talk about a mood killer!
I remember sleeping through a few.
Waking Scott up for a few.
Scrapbooking all night to stay awake.
Last year we hung out with friends and had a great time!
2010 we hung out at my brother's and spent the night, always nice when you don't have to drive home.
I rang in 2009 chaperoning teenagers.
This year we went to my brother's again and celebrated the new year by playing spoons (I won both times!), eating lots of yummy appetizers, having some drinks and hoping that the idiot neighbors that were shooting off guns weren't actually going to kill one of us.
Fun times, fun times.
Everyone stayed awake long enough to ring in the new year except Ava and my nephew Tony.
Pretty sure he passed out before the guns started going off.
Jessica drove us home with Scott micro managing her driving.
I finally just gave in and fell asleep in the back seat with the other two kids.
Guess I'm going to have to make us breakfast since he's still asleep at 11:00!
Here's to a fantastic new year where life only gets better and better!
And lets hope those Mayans really were wrong, eh?
Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI love Spoons--everyone always jokes that you might lose a hand when I'm in the game.
I have no idea how to play 'spoons'!
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a good New Year.
Stew and I actually stayed awake long enough to see it in too!
sounds like you know how to partaaaay!
ReplyDeletei love the bit about the mood killing mom call. woops! haha
i am out blog jogging today. I am visiting the blogs of the person who commented before me in the comment thread and commenting on their blog (did you follow all that?)...i came from Queso's.
Hello. I'm here from Mamarazzi's place. Nice to meet you. I'm certainly glad the neighbor's gun activity did not cause any injuries!
ReplyDeleteOur new years are never that exciting. The past two years we've stayed home and watched movies and kissed at midnight and went to bed. We're such party animals! (o; Happy New Year Julie!
ReplyDeleteI keep joking that I kind of hope the world does end in December since I have to renew my drivers license in 2013 and would really like to not have to wait in line for 5 hours to get that done! (o:
I remember 1998 to 1999 we went to NYC to see the ball drop but it was so cold we did not stay the whole night. Instead we went back to Jersey, rent a hotel, ate Chinese food, did that thing adults do when no kids are around and watch xrated movies on the in house movie channel. Good times, one of many good times. And the following year was just as good lol. There was an open bar, saw dust everywhere and crazy people....good times
