Trevor has started football practice and let's all pray that my boy can get under 90 pounds which is the weight limit. He was 94 when we signed him up and he's got about a month and 3 games to get under 90. Considering that he has practice two hours a day every day M-F in the 90-100 degree heat I don't think that should be too much of a problem. We've totally disallowed sodas (not that I buy them for the kids to drink regularly but he probably was having one a day) and limiting the sweets and extra helpings. Hopefully it will work because I had to pay $225 yesterday. That was in addition to the $35 we paid to sign him up. It's no wonder that poor kids are on the streets. They obviously aren't going to be able to pay for recreational sports if they are on a fixed income.
In other news I finally got Trevor in for his 1st dentist appointment. Yes he's 7. Yes that was a total mistake to wait that long. I finally have a smidge of dental insurance through work so I made him an appointment and prayed he wouldn't have too many cavaties. Apparently I should go to church more often because ALL his baby teeth are bad. Really bad. The dentist gave us a referral to go to a specialist for children so that we could get everything taken care of in 2 visits. I took him to one and they want to cap all his baby teeth and charge me over $2K. That's not going to happen anytime soon since none of his teeth are actually hurting him and the insurance only covers up to $500 a year AND does not cover caps until May of next year. So I'm thinking of either taking him to the other referral dentist and/or just waiting it out a bit. I don't know.
I'm pretty sure I have an ulcer after that visit.
Then I took myself to the dentist and I need three little fillings and a fucking root canal. Seriously?? Sucks. Back to the money debate. Since the tooth that needs a root canal isn't really hurting I'm putting that off a bit until
I made an appointment to get the three fillings done. That isn't quite as expensive. And I made an appointment for Jessica. Let's all go to church and do some serious praying that her teeth aren't seriously full of cavaties. I already know she needs braces so that is definitly going to be the next step for her. Hopefully there won't be any root canals involved.Pin It

Yep, going to the dentist here will cripple you too!
I would leave Trevor's teeth, they are his baby teeth afterall!
yep, agreed about the baby teeth. What kind of a screw up dentist would want to CAP some freggin baby teeth?! Uh, hells no!
I don't think he's full of crap. I remembered hearing something about how the health of baby teeth are just as important as adult teeth but couldn't remember why (I've had that question too..why fill a baby tooth?)
so I looked it up, here's one answer:
