My exciting life

I'm going to attempt to post from my phone tonight. I no longer have a desk at work (had to give it to someone of higher standing that transfered into our office) so now I'm a floater looking for an empty desk to use. Which of course makes it rather difficult to sneak in a blog post. Work has been pretty sucky lately. We have been working on cleaning out these huge filing cabinets for about two weeks. Pulling files off the shelf, opening eah one and discarding old papers, which we have to shred, then boxing up what is left. It's really boring and today 2 of the gals I was working in were all in to telling all these ghost stories that supposively happened to them. They were getting more and more elaborate and Im pretty sure if pinocchio had been there he would have had a bird perched in a nest on the end of his nose. I guess I should be glad that someone at least has an imagination!

After work we took Trevor to football practice, where once again he struggled so much with all the running and drills. There is one thing they do where they put their hands on the groundnand kind of crawl only without touching their knees on the ground. My son can so not do that drill. Half way down the field he will put his head on the ground and everytime he does it I just want to run out on the field and scoop up my little boy. It's so painful to watch him out there with the team all waiting for him and the coach standing over him telling him to hurry up. Why must our boys be tough?

After we got home I decided to take Rusty for a walk since I basically just sat on my ass all day. Trevor said he didn't want to go with me (no surprise there) and I told Scott that he could come with me. I whispered to him that we could go make out down by the playground (popular teen make out spot). He said "can I eat my dinner first?" and "go ahead and go". So I went by myself and now he's fast asleep on the couch. Another day in lover's paradise :/

Football and Dentist make you poor.

God It's been forever since I've posted on here. I've been kind of trying to stay off the computer when I'm home so I'll actually get something done. Like mastering a whole level in Angry Birds yesterday. Yeah, that got the house cleaned.

Trevor has started football practice and let's all pray that my boy can get under 90 pounds which is the weight limit. He was 94 when we signed him up and he's got about a month and 3 games to get under 90. Considering that he has practice two hours a day every day M-F in the 90-100 degree heat I don't think that should be too much of a problem. We've totally disallowed sodas (not that I buy them for the kids to drink regularly but he probably was having one a day) and limiting the sweets and extra helpings. Hopefully it will work because I had to pay $225 yesterday. That was in addition to the $35 we paid to sign him up. It's no wonder that poor kids are on the streets. They obviously aren't going to be able to pay for recreational sports if they are on a fixed income.

In other news I finally got Trevor in for his 1st dentist appointment. Yes he's 7. Yes that was a total mistake to wait that long. I finally have a smidge of dental insurance through work so I made him an appointment and prayed he wouldn't have too many cavaties. Apparently I should go to church more often because ALL his baby teeth are bad. Really bad. The dentist gave us a referral to go to a specialist for children so that we could get everything taken care of in 2 visits. I took him to one and they want to cap all his baby teeth and charge me over $2K. That's not going to happen anytime soon since none of his teeth are actually hurting him and the insurance only covers up to $500 a year AND does not cover caps until May of next year. So I'm thinking of either taking him to the other referral dentist and/or just waiting it out a bit. I don't know.

I'm pretty sure I have an ulcer after that visit.

Then I took myself to the dentist and I need three little fillings and a fucking root canal. Seriously?? Sucks. Back to the money debate. Since the tooth that needs a root canal isn't really hurting I'm putting that off a bit until I hit the lottery later. (estimate is about $2K, just fuck me now)

I made an appointment to get the three fillings done. That isn't quite as expensive. And I made an appointment for Jessica. Let's all go to church and do some serious praying that her teeth aren't seriously full of cavaties. I already know she needs braces so that is definitly going to be the next step for her. Hopefully there won't be any root canals involved.

Sadness and Shopping

So today was an interesting day. Went to work and then left shortly after to go to the funeral of a co-worker that lost his 2 1/2  year battle with cancer. It was really sad since he was still young and has 4 children, 2 just out of high school and 2 still in elementry school. The youngest is a boy, all the others girls. His little boy was like his shadow before he got sick. I always thought of them when I heard this song, and wouldn't you know it was the first song they played during the service. Of course I was toast after that.

It was a really nice service and we went to the cemetery afterwards. After that we went back to work and when I went in the bathroom I realized that my zipper was down. The last time I had went to the bathroom before that was at the church before the service started so my zipper was down the whole time. I'm really hoping it wasn't gaping too much since I had hot pink panties on!

After that we headed to lunch and when we got back it was time for me to go home so I didn't even bother going back inside.

When I got home we went to town. Dropped Trevor off to hang out with my in laws, and the girls and I went to the mall. Jess needed some new pants for camp and a few other things. Like a bra. I ended up taking her down to Victoria's Secret to get measured. Since I was there I had them measure me too. We are almost the same size but she is one cup bigger. Sad lol.  I don't know how much money we spent, I'm scared to total it up!

Three pairs of jeans at Ross were around $45
Target $20 something
Claire's $25
Victoria's Secret $45
Book Store for required summer reading $35

Ahh only $170, guess it could have been worse!

Why it takes me so long to get anything done

All my kids are gone at the moment. Melissa is at camp and Trevor is spending the weekend with his cousin. Jessica is at a party and I'm waiting for the pick up call to go pick her up. Six more months and she can drive herself! Well maybe if Scott gets the car running for her.

One of my sunflowers is finally open with it's big blooming head! The one on the right is a little bit taller all of a sudden. Sometimes I feel like a little kid on Christmas morning when I see my plants blooming. It's pretty amazing that such a big plant can grow from one tiny little seed.

Not the best picture  since the sun was going down. It was really really hot here today. About 105. Scott wanted to work on the garage but first we had to go to Home Depot, which then turned into a trip to Lowe's. We don't have a Lowe's here so we had to go to the next big city. Still didn't find what we wanted but bought all the other stuff there since we were there. I picked up a new blanket flower plant. It's similar to the one I have but more upright. Maybe I will get it planted tomorrow. I need to figure out where I'm going to put it first!

While Scott was working on the garage he stepped on a board with old rusty nails in it. I had just got back from the grocery store when I saw my phone ringing. It was him calling from the garage. He was telling me to bring a bunch of stuff out there  but I just grabbed a towel and went out to see the damage. I wasn't sure how I was going to find him. That's a scary feeling for sure. He was sitting there holding his bloody sock on the bottom of his foot. Apparently it was bleeding pretty bad for awhile but he had got it slowed down. I called Urgent Care to see about getting him a tetanus shot but they were closing and said he could come in tomorrow for one. He's being a big ass baby now. If it was me I'd take some pain pills and go to bed. It's things like this that remind me why I should never ever be a nurse. I'd be the mean nurse on the floor that everyone hated lol.

After trying to get it done all day I finally got a bookmark done. To make a bookmark you have to:
Find the picture you want to use
Try to print the picture out.
Realize that you are out of magenta ink.
Go to your mom's house and steal the magenta ink out of her printer.
Get home and realize that mom's magenta ink is ALSO empty.
Tell everyone that you are going to town.
Wait for teenager to take a shower so she can go to.
Sit in the passenger seat and hope you won't die while she drives, all the while praying that she doesn't hit anyone because you REALLY don't want another bill.
Make it to Staples alive.
Almost die going through the Staples/Target parking lot because that woman REALLY wanted that parking space she spotted.
Finally make it to the grocery store that's on the other side of the busy street.
Spent $120 on groceries.
Pray you don't die all the way home since the teenager is driving again.
Get home.
Start to unload groceries, get the call that the man stepped on the nail.
Take care of him and finally get him in the house.
Sit on the couch and watch America's Got Talent.
Make dinner.
Watch more of America's Got Talent.
Get back in the car and pray some more while the teen drives to her friend's party.
Drive back.
Finally get to use the computer (the man has been sitting there since the nail incident) to print out the picture you want.
Clean half of the bedroom to find the top of the desk.
FINALLY make bookmark.

Tres De Julio and the Fourth of July

It's been so long since I posted I had to go look and see what I talked about last!  So let's end with last Friday, my last post then Saturday we did not much of anything. Took Melissa and Trevor to go see the fireworks from the car about a mile away from where they were shooting them off in the next town over. WHY they do it on the 3rd I don't know. I think it's stupid. What's Cinco De Mayo if you have it on the Quatro? Anyhow I broke out the camera.

My son could NOT sit still. He ended up getting out and standing next to the car. BOUNCE BOUNCE BOUNCE. Thinking that's a boy thing.

The fireworks weren't that great. Hopefully the kids didn't remember how awesome they were last eyar when we watched them.

The people next to us were STANDING on the roof of their SUV. It did have a roof rack on it but I really can't see how you would NOT dent your car standing on the roof. AND having 2 adults and a little kid up there. The little kid wanted up and down and up and down and as soon as the fire works started started crying hysterically about something. Not sure but I think the mom was about ready to beat her. Why can't they do fireworks before bedtime??? Oh yeah it has to be dark.. Maybe they should change it to December. It's nice and dark then. We could get them done by 6:00. Quatro de decembre...

Oh and right when they were almost over some people drove up in a hoopdy with their rap music blaring. Got out and left the car and radio running? Hello if your car is smoking up a storm and your radio isn't playing patriotic music you might want to turn it down while you ruin everyone else's firework experience. Afterall we paid (oh nothing) to watch these from the side of the dead end street. Luckily it was only like 5 minutes then they turned it off.

SO onto the 4th!!

Off to my brother's.

My friend came and hung out for awhile. We took some pictures with her cell phone. I had already swam and had no make up on. Threatened bodily harm if she posted them on facebook before I got to give the ok.

My niece was there

and Jessica's boyfriend

She wasn't too happy that he freaked out. He wasn't too happy that they were upstairs in the bathroom. I think he over reacted just a bit.

I am now taking my make up and hair stuff to parties that have more than our immediate family.

The kids shot off the couple hundred poppers that I bought at Costco for $10

The streamer things were everywhere!

Totally jealous of the bikini lady..

The neighbor shot off a bunch of fireworks.

All in all it was a fun day.

Then I had to drive the boyfriend home. I didn't get home until 12:30.
Totally exhausted!!

Dance Fever!

OH MY GOSH you guys I had the BEST night last night. I went and met up with my friend down at our little bar and had a couple of drinks. Then we went to our little corner country store that was having karaoke (that's such a weird word to spell out). Listened to a few people sing, a few people TRY to sing,  then we were going to leave but ended up hanging out inside for a little bit and sampling an awesome tri-tip sandwich. THEN we went back to our little bar and had lots more drinks and DANCED OUR ASSES OFF. Seriously can't remember dancing that much EVER. Scott came down at some point and he even danced with us. Too much fun!!

Except now I'm trying to figure out what hurts more.

My head?
Or my knees.

I think that's a sign that I'm not as young as I used to be!.

Random

Did anyone else spend their morning tossing and turning trying to decide if they were getting up today?

Oh that was just me?

I finally got up and made it into work. Only an hour later than usual. Guess what? I still beat everyone in. I can't believe how late people come into work.

I'm really looking forward to the weekend, although Jessica is trying to get her boyfriend to come over to the house tomorrow AND to go to my brother's for the 4th of July. That should be fun. For her. Not me.

Scott and I were talking about having a date night Saturday. We'll see if it happens or not. I told him last night that he talks to the computer and the tv more than me and he agreed then went "wait, what?" lol. Obviously he wasn't quite listening to me.

I've felt like a slacker mom this week because I am so drained by the time I get home. The kids are always wanting to go do something but I'm always telling them no because everytime we walk out the door I end up spending $100.

I do need to go take Trevor to get some new shoes though. He had got a new pair of flip flops but Rusty ate one. No idea where his other ones are and his tennis shoes are all too small now. I'm always in awe of people who's kids have like 10 pairs of shoes.

Well nothing too exciting going on here I guess!

I need some boots

Well today was an interesting day. I spent the morning in a generally pissy mood. The mood started when a co-worker wanted me to go out in the field with her. Which was fine, but I didn't bring my tennis shoes. I did however wear my tennis shoes about 3 days ago when she first asked me to go out in the field with her and then she flaked on me.

So thinking she was ready to go I got my purse and headed up front. She's sitting at her desk and is not ready to go. She wants me to make a map that shows the roads to get to the dairy we are going to. I show her that it is on a main road AND tell her I just went out to this dairy not too long ago so I know where it is. She insists that we need a map so I take my purse and go back to my computer and make the map.

When I'm almost done she comes back and asks if I'm ready. "just as soon as I finish making your fucking map" I tell her.

Then she somehow gets a lightbulb moment and rememebers that I said I know how to get there and says "it's ok you don't have to make the map".

I'm like, "it's almost done so you are getting a map."

I go get the map from the printer, once again grab my purse and head up front.

She's STILL not ready to go.

This time she's trying to find a working camera.  (which I just realized right now that we never used the camera). She finds the one ancient one and jams the card (which isn't an SD one because it's OLD) in the wrong way. It takes 3 people and a pair of tweezers to get it out.

About 10 minutes later she's finally ready to go. As we walk out she asks me why I didn't bring tennis shoes. UMM because everytime you ask me to go out in the field with you it never happens? Whatever, my feet wash it's ok.

We get in the truck and she's flipping channels and lands on a bible study channel. It's like talk radio. With someone reading the bible.

Me: GRaaaccceeeeeee
Her: Oh sorry, I didn't KNOWWWWWWWWWW

Yeah. Did I mention that she's a Jehovah's Witness?
If we can't have birthday cake we so can't have the Bible in the truck.

I facebooked that I was out in the field with my not too "smart" co worker and that she tried to listen to the Bible station on the radio.

A bunch of people jumped my shit because I called all Christians dumb. Yeah SO not what I was saying. Obviously if I thought all Christians were dumb I wouldn't be sending my kid to church camp. I ended up deleting that later just because I didn't feel like getting attacked by everyone.

We finally get out to the dairy and tromp through the sandy soil in my open toe open back slip on shoes. My feet become one with the soil as she talks to the dairyman. After he shows us where all the properies are (which we have on another map and should be able to figure out if we have half a brain). We get in and out of the truck a few times driving back and forth to the different fields only ALMOST getting stuck in the sand once.

That was kind of fun.

After it was all over I have to say I did kind of learn something even though I was so grouchy when we were on our way out. And my feet are a nice sand shade now.

Thursday Thunks

Thursday Thunks: It's a holiday, people!

So yeah, it's a holiday weekend. 4th of July... Independence Day... whatever you want to call it. What are you doing on July 5th?

I have the day off so I'll be sleeping in to start with. Maybe sleeping off a hang over since it's the hubbies turn to drive home from my brother's house.

Have you ever known anyone who has been kidnapped? Nope

Does wiping with newspaper make you a smartass?

The idea of having newsprint smeared on my butt kind of bothers me. I would use it if that was all there was though.

If someone sends you - or you stumble upon a link that will show you celebrity death photos, do you click the link?

Probably not.

Do you decorate your computer/laptop?
My computer at work has all the different cuties stickers on it.

You see Bud and his lady out walking in a park... suddenly she stops and kicks him square in the ass. What did he say to her?

I don't know but my husband deserves a good kick in the ass sometimes. (Like today it's 7:25 and no word that he's going to be home late)

There is a cockroach, a tarantula and a mouse in the room - which one do you kill first?

cockroach, those things are nasty

Did you know that a hay bale can start on fire by itself? Do you know how?

Yep, there is a dairy down the street and when they first built it they had 3 huge hay barns and they ALL caught on fire. They burned for DAYS.  It's from the gases coming off the hay.

Kimber calls you - what is her voice like?

Who's Kimber?

Have you ever played Battleship?

Yep, my step brother had it so we'd play it all the time. That was before he showed me the girly mags he had hidden.

Days of our Lives paid tribute to Francis Reid/Alice Horton this week (Francis, the actress, died in February, Alice (the character) died last week). She was 91 years old and was protrayed as a smart, witty, funny, loving, always gave the best advice type woman. Wonderful mother, grandmother, friend... many characters (and cast members) commented on how they strive to be the type of woman she was. Is there someone in your life that you strive to be like?

Nope not really.

Do you attend parades?

I used to back when we were in Girl Scouts. They usually start way too early for me.

If Berleen were to purchase three 10-gallon tubs of the peanut butter that they use at Dairy Queens, would you think any less of her?

Only if she was allergic to peanuts.

If all the flowers but one kind withered and died, never to grow again, but that one kind of flower would grow worldwide forever, what would you want the surviving flower to be?

Daisies
