Sad Day

I went to a funeral today.
It was for my cousin's wife.
She was only 41.
They have 2 young kids. Ages 9 and 7.
All I could think about the whole time was there was

"who will take care of the kids now?"

I know there are some good single dads out there.
I hope my cousin will be one.

And then I was thinking

"if something happened to me, who would take care of my kids?"

I can see my husband letting my oldest do everything for everyone. And my kids foraging for food. But really it probably wouldn't be like that because my mom would step in.

And take over.
She's just that way.

So back to the funeral. They live way in the hills, almost to Yosemite. It's very pretty up there. The funeral was in this little tiny church and it was FULL. People were standing outside. And that was after they put up chairs BEHIND the casket and in the rows next to the pews.

Was I bad for thinking that when I die I hope that many people come to my funeral?

Obviously she was loved. I didn't know her very well. I mostly went to show support for my cousin. While I was sitting there there was a girl across from me sobbing.

She knew her.
Really knew her.

I felt bad that I didn't feel that pain that she was feeling.

My tears were for the little kids. And for my kids. I can't imagine not seeing my kids grow up. It makes me cry just thinking about not being here for them.

After the service they did a caravan to the cemetery.

The little tiny cemetery up on a hill. It was so small all the cars wouldn't fit inside. We parked and walked towards where they had some chairs set up, but didn't go all the way. At first I didn't even see where they were going to bury her. Then I realized it was over in the little bend across from the chairs.

They put her casket there and the pastor started to talk.

He had to stop and regain his composure.
After he said his final prayers they started to lower the casket.

I have seriously never seen that done except for in the movies.
As I was looking that direction I saw the children.

Watching their mother's casket go in the ground.

I turned around and walked to the car.
I was glad to see my dad and step mom did the same. We got in the car and went to the community center place and waited for everyone to get back.

When my cousin came back (the sister in law to the deceased) she said it was horrible.

They actually buried the casket while everyone was there.

WHY??

Those poor children watched the whole thing.

My heart breaks for them.

Big Slide Park

Yesterday we went to the "Big Slide Park". That's not it's real name but that's what my kids call it. Jessica and I layed out on a blanket and read our books while the little kids played. I think they had fun :O)

So today is the first day of no school. I got to sleep in a little bit. Until the dog and the cat did some kind of team work and the dog got out. She wouldn't come when I called her and I couldn't see her. Finally found her across the field behind the neighbors house. The one neighbor who she ALWAYS bothers. I should have known. One more reason for him not to wave when I drive by.

Last Day of School & Graduation

Today is the last day of school. The last day of my daughter's baby years. ::SOB:: She's been going to this school since she started Kindergarten. Ok onto Graduation so I won't start crying again.

My sister in law picked up Jessica from school and took her to her house to do her hair. It was so pretty she did a great job. She straightened it for her since she has naturally curly hair so of course she wants it bone straight lol

Apparently the straps that I stayed up late sewing on the strapless dress "broke off". I'm thinking they had a little help but I'll forgive her. I took her to the school at 5 for the professional photos that they were doing.

Scott got home early and we were all ready to go before 6. So we took the long way to the school lol. We got there and got our seats. Then we waited forever for it to start lol. Trevor and I entertained ourselves for ahile.

After the program started they turned off the lights which made it really hard to get any decent pictures. Oh yah, and the prerequisite bald guy sat somewhere in front of us. I swear, every.freaking.thing. has a bald guy sitting in front of us. And his head is in EVERY picture. So I had to do some cropping.

Anyhow.

Jessica and 2 other girls sang the National Anthem.

Then a few other things. Then Jessica and another girl read a poem that Jessica had wrote for an assignment and the teacher loved it.

And then a few more things.

Then she did a gift to the Principal and a little thing about him.

Then a few more things. And then since she's been on the honor roll from 5th to 7th grade, she not only got the gold ropes she's wearing, but she got a plaque! These pictures aren't so great, hoping my friend's pictures came out better.

AND she also go an award for music, another plaque (and she was the only one to get that!). So very proud mommy :O)

Afterwards we all went outside and took some pictures (are you tired of me yet?)

All the Grandparents!!

Our little family

My brother, sister in law and nephew

Trevor couldn't wait for the cake lol.

And aftewards we went to Applebees with my mom and step dad. Trevor made it through his mac and cheese and promptly passed out lol

Jessica was at the dance that was after Graduation. When I picked her up she said she slow danced with 2 guys :::giddy laughter::: So cute!!

Graduation

Is DONE!! Pics and stories to follow tomorrow morning :O)

Tuesday

Yesterday I spent 2 1/2 hours stapling black paper to the walls of the school gym. We were decorating for Jessica's 8th grade graduation, which is tonight (Wednesday). My back was killing me when I got home from getting up and down off a step stool and reaching with the crappy stapler. After I got home I did a quick change and clean up and took Jessica to her friend's 8th Grade Graduation at another school. I cannot believe how some girls dress!! 4 inch rinestone heals??? Crazy!! And 8th Grade Grad is NOT what it used to be. I'm pretty sure for mine I just got dressed at home?? No nails done, did my own hair and make up. These kids all have hair appts and nail appts and people to do their make up. CRAZY! Jessica got her nails done last weekend and amazingly hasn't broken one yet. My sister in law took her to get them done and paid for it. She is also going to "do her hair and make up" tonight. I'm sure she'll look great but I kind of miss the simpler days! Anyhow, here's Jess and her friends last night. I HATE the shirt she has on, but you can't tell your kids you hate their clothes without WWIII starting.

Jessica's friend was Valavictorian. She has a 4.0 all the way through 7th and 8th grade (probably forever really). My friend, her mom, would ground her if she got a B+. Guess that's one way to get your kids to succeed?? Hopefully she won't do the full rebellion until after high school lol. You know it's got to happen sometime. She had 2 speeches to give last night and did a great job. My pictures from inside the gym are crap though so not sharing those. I swear they must install some very weird lighting in gyms so that parents can't get any proof that their kids were in there.

UGH it's almost time to hop in the shower already to go back to the torture chamber and finish decorating. I have no idea what I am going to wear tonight....

Ok I'm procrastinating, editing this to add my picture from after 8th Grade Graduation. Sitting with my Grandparents who have both passed away.

Ack

Ok before you look at these pictures you CANNOT judge me. I'm really a good Mom. I just went through a bit of a depression and you know, went from working and carting my kids back and forth to softball for 3 months to being laid off. Softball is over now. I've almost recovered from my nice summer cold and well the fog is lifting. So I ventured into Trevor's room to clean it. I looked around the corner and OMG!!

I think it only took me like 3 or 4 hours. He wasn't home so I bagged up lots of crap and filled up the back of my car and dropped it off at my friend's house for her church yard sale. I'd show you an after picture but not long afterwards my Mom and Dad brought over the bunk beds we are going to put up in there. And since my husband didn't take the hints of me trying to get him to put them up today they are still crowding out the room. There are no toys on the floor now though :O) The best part is so far he hasn't noticed anything missing. Which really, I don't think he even knew what was in there to start off with.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So I started my day off today by going to meet my friend for lunch at the mall and doing some shopping!! We had a nice time visiting and looking for clothes, which by the way apparently EVERYONE wears the same sizes as us because all the cute stuff was only left in the itty bitty sizes. I did manage to get some much needed boobie holders and a new pair of Capri pants and some luggage for my trip to Vegas next week. Woop woop, getting pretty excited about that!!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've been reading my book tonight. It's called Goodnight Nobody. Here's my favorite part so far lol

With three kids and no time, I'd gotten masturbation down to a science. A fast science, I thought, five minutes later as I leaned against the wet tiled walls, panting and shuddering, with the hand-held nozzle thrashing like a possessed snake where I'd dropped it on the shower floor. It was sad. I decided., as I t urned off the water, but I'd probably had more fun with the shower than with Ben. In Fact, I was pretty sure that since we'd moved to Upchurch, most of my orgasms had been of the DIY variety; an indictment of suburban living if ever there was one. Where there any married couples with children who still had fulfilling sex lives? Or were all of these perfect Upchurch mommies secretly like me, feeling like they were just playing a part, like they'd wandered into some stranger's bedroom farce, sleeping with their husbands occasionally, lusting after hunky Little People's Music instructor obsessively, and still falling asleep thinking of their exes?

Yankee Or Dixie?

50% (Yankee). Barely into the Yankee category.

What are you?

At the Crop

A friend of mine invited me to come over to scrapbook at her house last night. At first I wasn't going to go but the more I thought about it I decided it sounded like a good chance to get some scrapbooking done. Jessica wanted to come with me so I let her come for the first time. She did pretty good and didn't complain she was bored or anything.

I was going to take pictures of all the scrapbooking I got done last night but I only got two pictures taken when the batteries died. This is the left and right side of my mom's birthday, which starts out my 2008 album this year.

After I did these pages I went on to work on some portrait pages I've been doing a step at a time. You know, all those pictures you put on the wall of your kids and then after you take them down, what do you do with them???

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think this is the most unexciting Memorial Day weekend ever. Our weather is so crappy. Yesterday it was actually raining off and on. No one has invited us over to bbq anywhere. Scott's out working on his car and the kids are all trying to kill eachother. And it's not even 11.

You might be a redneck...

So today after I took the kids to school I came home and jumped in my computer chair, all ready to read my morning blogs.

My mom called right after I sat down and invited Trevor and I to come over for "biscuits". I'm like ummm ok I guess I'll come over. But what I was really thinking was that I REALLY just want to sit and read my blogs and be lazy! But I bucked it up and we went over there and hung out for like 3 hours. I think my mom is feeling a little depressed lately so hopefully she enjoyed our visit. Trevor and my nephew were all ready to come back to our house so they played here for the rest of the day.

I got a wild hair up my butt to go out and wash my old car. I've had my new car for a year now and we still have the car that we "replaced". My husband apparently has some kind of mental problem when it comes to getting rid of cars (and bikes, and tires, and lawnmowers). So anyhow, the car has a flat tired and the battery is dead but I think, "I can push it over to the grass". I get it to go backwards and then when it comes to pushing it forward it was like IMPOSSIBLE. Good thing I have a kid! So I went and got Jessica and she helped me push it over to the grass.

We got the car all washed up on the outside and then I was going to clean the inside. Melissa pops the trunk and OMG, what the hell is all this crap??? Scott had put an OLD wall air conditioner thing that DIED like 14 years ago in the trunk. He's had plenty of opportunities to take this thing to the dumps but for some reason he just can't part with it?? Also he had dumped like a ton of nuts and bolts and some other car crap and a bunch of old enery drink cans. Apparently we are saving this car to have a place to dump all our extra garbage??? So I hauled all that crap out of the trunk and vaccumed it all out.

Then I cleaned the inside out. Like ALL DAY. My arms are freaking killing me. So I finally finished it "good enough".

Came in and took a shower and Melissa and I went to Target to get a gift for her friend's birthday tomorrow. Then we went to Applebees. I had to keep trying to bring up things for conversation. She's a nut though some of the things she says. We decided to get dessert and she wanted to get this Triple Chocolate Cake thing with ice cream. They bring it to the table and she's all "I get the cake!". I was like umm no we are sharing lol. I took a picture of her with the cake on my cell phone but can't figure out how to get it here. Anyone???

Thank The Lord

My DSL is finally working again!!

What a freaking long day with no computer. So as you know, the computer connection was working just fine earlier this morning and then all of a sudden I just got the sad page. You know that page. It's the one that shows it's

just.not.working.

This is the sucky part about living in the country. You can't just have cable internet. You have to rely on satalites and boxes and towers. And when the wind is whipping dirt around at 30 mph things happen and then apparently my interenet doesn't work.

Anyhow I was so bored after I came back from Melissa's Author's Tea (story to follow) I ended up doing that for letter word.

CLEAN

So this is what happens when I clean. I get a little side tracked sometimes.

Now I have to clean the rest of the house to find those missing letters damn it!

Anyhow... back to earlier today.

I had to go to the kids' school for "Author's Tea".
What's Author's Tea you ask????

It's when they make the parents come to the classroom. And you can't just NOT go because you don't want YOUR KID to be the one that has to stand up in front of the class with no Mommy there to applaud her for writing a story about how the Principal did something something and I reallycantunderstandwhatthekidsaresaying.. oh it's time to applaud now!!

Anyhow so I went. I had some nasty cranberry juice mixed with 7 up (where was the wine for the proper spritzer???) and a scone. I have to say the scone was really good. I almost stole one for the little kid sitting next to us. (His mom didn't come, where the heck was SHE??)

Before Melissa went up there I told her you have to talk loud! She says yeah I know. Then I tell her you have to go slow! She says, yeah I know. So she gets up there and I understood the first paragraph of what she said and then she just kept speeding up and then it was over. clap clap clap. Ok no idea what she said lol.

The teacher invited us to come back tomorrow for their recorder performance. Someone must have said HELL NO!! So she got some of the kids to go up to the front of the classroom to play their tune.

Then I wanted to get a picture of Melissa with her art work but her friend jumped in the picture and they were still holding their recorders so I got this.

Anyhow I finally escaped there after about an hour.

When Jessica got off the bus she called me to tell me some little beotch scratched her arm on the bus. Look what the girl did!

So I called the school and told on her. (yes I did, I really did)

Apparently the bus driver just told her she "shouldn't have done that". Yeah right, should be kicked off the bus!!!

All because Jessica wouldn't put up the window on the 4 mile ride home. Sheesh. I'd hate to see how she reacts when something REALLY big happens in her life. Apparently the principal is going to "talk to them" tomorrow and find out what the deal was.

I say Jessica should get to scratch her back :O)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Five people I want to know better?

Ah why stop at 5? Tell me all about ALL OF YOU!!

Eye Drops

So it's 6:00 in the morning and I'm laying in bed with my eyes wide open and can't sleep. UGH it's just WRONG! I don't have to get up until at least 7:30 now. The wind is whipping around outside and looks like a horrible day out there. While I was laying there I was thinking about how fun it is to put eye drops in my son's 5 year-old eyes.

You don't think that sounds like fun??

Yesterday the Dr. prescribed him eye drops since his eyes are all red. I'm still not totally convinced that he has pink eye since we've had it a ton of times and except for his eyes being red he doesn't have much of the symptoms.

You know, wanting to scratch his eyeball out.
Or waking up with them glued shut with gunk.

Oh you're drinking your coffee??

I'm sorry..

So anyhow, I start off the process of trying to get these drops from the bottle to into his eyes by doing the obvious. I ask him.

"Can we put some eye drops in your eyes?"

"Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo" he says

"Please?? we really need to put drops in your eyes, they are soo red and they look horrible." I say

"Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo" he says again

So I'm thinking ok this approach isn't working so I tell him,
"let me put the drops in your eyes or I'm going to have to sit on you".

His eyes get really big and he thinks about it for a sec and then he goes and lays down on the couch... and promptly puts his hands over his eyes.

I've got the bottle in hand and am trying to get him to take his hands off his eyes so I can put the drops in.

"Please baby, come on, let me just put the drops in, it won't hurt I promise!"

"Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo"

So then I tell him

"If it hurts you can sock me".

He takes one hand off for a millasecond while he giggles and says "I can sock you?""

"Sure!" I tell him, because he's 5, really how bad can it hurt??

He must of thought it over and decided that hurting his mom wasn't worth getting crap put in his eyes, his hands are glued over his eyes.

So I result to force. I'm sorry. There is just no other way.

"I'm going to have to sit on you then!" I tell him.

"Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo" he screams with a little nervous cry.

This results in the "mommy move". Have you ever done the "mommy move". It goes like this. When the child is busy panicing that you are going to put your large ass on top of his frame you position yourself over the child. Then, you quickly grab their arms, stuff them under your butt, and proceed to sit on them ever so lightly so that arms are pinned under your legs and HIS legs are far enough down that they cannot somehow come up and kick you in the head. Quickly with one hand, pry off the child's hand and proceed to put at least 10 drops in the direction of the pried open eye. That way at least the required TWO will make it in there while he thrashes his head about. Quickly do the other eye.

And whaalllaaa, your kid has drops in his eyes.

Repeat for a total of two times a day...

Sick baby

So my little guy is sick. Maybe that's why he was being crazy the other day??? Yesterday he fell asleep while watching tv and slept for a really long time. He never did really "get up" after that and was running a fever and said his ear was "plugged".

This morning I did the 8:30 stalking by phone of the Dr's office to get in. I've learned that if you want to get your kid in TODAY you have to call right when they switch over from the answering machine to an actual person.

I called at
8:30-machine,
redial 8:31-machine,
redial 8:32 YEAH got a person!! So we got in for 9:20.

I've also learned that if you want to get in, you need to be early or ON TIME or they punish you.

Seriously, they do. Be 5 minutes late and they will make you wait for an HOUR just to be called into the back and wait another hour.

So we rushed right along and drove the 12 or so miles to the office (we live in the country and it's that far to ANYTHING). We got there right at

9:20.

Damn!

So I'm thinking, are we going to be in the late category today??

Luckily I brought my book so while Trevor was playing with the germ covered toys they provide (WHY?? do they have toys in there???)

I'm hearing Bambi in the background. Oh no, please not the part where Bambi's mother dies...

Then Trevor has to go to the bathroom.

When Trevor has to go to the bathroom it's not a quick lets run, whip it out and be done. NOooooo it's I want to go in the Men's bathroom. I'm playing with the lock. I go pee. Now I have to poop. Now I have to wash my hands with lots of soap. And forget the paper towels, it's way too quick, I must use the air dryer.

Oh thank God he's done and he didn't even lock himself in the bathroom this time.

Back to the waiting room where someone has taken our chairs so we must sit somewhere else. Well me, he's back to the germs.

I was deep into my Kinsey Millhone book when they finally called us in. Oh wait it was only 1/2 an hour, not bad!!

Trevor gets on the scale and weighs 63 pounds. He's 5 years and 2 months. The kid is a tank I tell you!! And he's not fat at all (and I'm not saying that because I'm his mom).

Back to the patient rooms we go. He's sitting there on the table asking me how he's supposed to be sitting. I said just however, geez this kid asks a lot of questions lately.

So it's another 1/2 an hour until the Dr. comes back. While we are waiting my mom calls. She's sick too. It's my fault. Because I have a kid that was sick and he breathed on her.

The Dr. comes in and does the check up and Trevor has bronchitis, an ear infection and his eyes are really red so she thinks he might have pink eye. Woohoo the fun comes in threes this time!!

So we make our return appt for next week and Trevor gets his Superman sticker and we use some germ x on our hands and make our way over to Wal Mart to pick up the prescriptions.

I've been trying to kind of boycott Wal Mart lately since it's kind of gross and Target it better but Target is new and we've went to WM for a long time for our prescriptions and I'm not even sure if they take our insurance at Target. So that's why we went there.

I go up to the drop off counter and tell the gal that the Dr sent over prescriptions and we are here so go ahead and fill them and how long is it going to be?? Amazingly they had received them already (sometimes they are like wha?? we didn't get anything??? and that is why I go check in now). She says an HOUR. I'm thinking holy shit but ok we can go eat at McBarf's over there and then walk around a bit.

We go eat, stopping for another trip to the bathroom for Trevor in the middle of our "meal". When we are done he has to go again. I swear it must be some kind of exciting for a 5 year old boy to go to the bathroom.

Anyhow, we do a little shopping and then go up to the counter. It's been 40 minutes and there's not that many people there so I'm hoping it's done.

The girl is like umm when did you drop it off?

I said 40 minutes ago...

So I think from how she was reacting that they didn't even give it to the pharmacist. She says it will be another 1/2 an hour or so.

FUCK.

So we go walk around some more, I'm totally avoiding the toy aisle because I can't even walk in Trevor's room already. He's not too happy about that and we settle on a movie. We get a few more things and go back to the pharmacy.

God has it really only been 15 more minutes?? So I check in again and it's still not done. So we sit on the little bench in front of them while I send evil glares at the people working behind the counter and kind of hope Trevor will throw up or something so they will hurry up!

An hour and a half after the time I dropped it off we were finally freaking done. Ridiculous!! I'm definitely finding out if Target takes our insurance next time I'm in there.

Wal Mart, I HATE you!!

"Tagged"

So I was tagged first by Shannon to tell six random things about myself and then by Blarney to take the Flower Quiz. So I figured I'd do them all in one post, so here we go:

Write six random things about yourself. Tag six people at the end of your post linking to their blog. Let each person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog. Let the tagger know when your entry is up.

1. I wish I was more exciting
2. I think about doing things a lot more than I actually do them.
3. I'm an internet addict
4. I'm a procrasinator
5. My mom can make me mad really easily.
6. I am depressed a lot because my life isn't quite what I want it but I'm not sure exactly what it is that I "want".

And I'm a daffodil, who would have thought??

I am a
Daffodil

What Flower
Are You?

I'm not tagging anyone since I think just about everyone has done the first one, feel free to do them if you want!

BBQ RULES

(from an email I got today)

We are about to enter the summer and BBQ season. Therefore it is important to refresh your memory on the etiquette of this sublime outdoor cooking activity, as it's the only type of cooking a 'real' man will do, probably because there is an element of danger involved.

When a man volunteers to do the BBQ the following chain of events are put into motion:

Routine...

(1) The woman buys the food.
(2) The woman makes the salad, prepares the vegetables, and makes dessert.
(3) The woman prepares the meat for cooking, places it o n a tray along with the necessary cooking utensils and sauces, and takes it to the man who is lounging beside the grill - beer in hand.

Here comes the important part:

(4) THE MAN PLACES THE MEAT ON THE GRILL.

More routine....

(5) The woman goes inside to organize the plates and cutlery.
(6) The woman comes out to tell the man that the meat is burning. He thanks her and asks if she will bring another beer while he deals with the situation.

Important again:

(7) THE MAN TAKES THE MEAT OFF THE GRILL AND HANDS IT TO THE WOMAN.

More routine....

(8) The woman prepares the plates, salad, bread, utensils, napkins, sauces, and brings them to the table.
(9) After eating, the woman clears the table and does the dishes.

And most important of all:
(10) Everyone PRAISES the MAN and THANKS HIM for his cooking efforts.
(11) The man asks the woman how she enjoyed "her night off" and, upon seeing her annoyed reaction, concludes that there's just no pleasing some women....

Full Moon

Apparently it's a full moon tonight. I went outside a minute ago because

1.) I'm wide awake from coughing my head off

2.) I heard a cat fight outside and knew one of my cats as out there.

I went outside in my t shirt and panties and found I was in the spot light of the full moon. Good thing I live in the country!

cough cough

UGH I'm freaking sick. How can I have a cold when it's 100 degrees outside at 8:00 in the morning??? Dang kids! Just took a shot of Robitussin, hopefully it helps me to stop coughing my lungs up.

So yesterday was the LAST softball game!! Melissa had a 1:00 game which meant that we got to go sit out in the heat, yeahhhhh. Scott's parents actually got there before we did because I drug my feet so long getting ready. I really didn't want to go out and sit in the hot sun after getting heat stroke on Friday. We got there about 10 minutes before the game started. Luckily I had my handy dandy umbrella to sit under so I did ok. I think their team won too lol. Afterwards they had a big water balloon fight but I was too lazy to walk across the field to where they had it.

After the game we came home for a little while before going back to town for the pizza party. Scott was one of the coaches so he got a gift. He got a $10 Starbucks card which he made sure to put in his wallet so I wouldn't swipe, and a t shirt.

I doubt he will ever wear the shirt but it was a nice gesture lol.

Trevor was being a little shit the whole time they were trying to talk. God he was so embarrassing! Why does it always have to be MY kid that acts like that?? It's not like you can do anything to discipline them while everyone is giving speeches.

Here is Melissa with her trophy, it's cool, since you can put one of the game balls in the glove.

After the pizza place we took Melissa and Trevor to Grandma and Grandpa's house so I could have a break before I tied him in a little knot... and took Jessica to her friend's house so she could spend the night. We went to the movies and saw What Happens In Vegas. It was pretty good.

We got home pretty late but I couldn't go to sleep so I stayed up for a little while reading my book. If you haven't been to Pasta Queen's blog you should go check it out. She is so inspirational and her pictures you can spin around are really cool!

Friday, May 16, 2008

So here's MY day..

So we started off by going to the school at regular time. We go into the classroom and the teacher has paper with our groups on it so we all get together with our groups. We have 4 adults and 6 kids. She has us leave in order of groups to make sure we are all together?? Then we stand outside while everyone is supposed to be going to the bathroom but I don't think anyone went. Finally we go over to the bus where they have seating charts and have to go over what to do if we are all going to die. Of course Jessica and I get the seat with the wheel. Happens EVERY TIME I go on a field trip with her lol.

So we left around 9. We get to Marine World at 11. Then we have to get to the parking lot but it takes awhile because 2 buses ahead of us had a fender bender. Then we go allllll the way to the big parking lot. Then we have to get off the bus, get our groups again and instructions and then walk together as a group to the entrance.

We get there and then the "chaperons" have to go buy tickets. Which I was like WTH why didn't they buy those with the big group rate? So we are standing in line for that and the teacher decides she'll be nice and give us the tickets for the people that didn't show up instead of just letting them go to waste. Um yeah no brainer there but thanks saved me $50.

So then we all have to meet INSIDE the park again. Where we are all standing around and I asked the other moms if they would be ok if Jessica and I split off since I really don't think we need a one on one ratio and I don't want to hang out with people I don't know or like anyways. Of course they were ok with it and then I asked the teacher if we are all ok and can we take off and she was like you guys are splitting up? I said yeah almost everyone has a parent and the one mom said she can handle the 2 extras. I could tell she didn't really want us to take off but she let us. I mean really these kids are 14 years old. I remember being let loose with my step brother in Great America when I was like 7 and he was 10.

So by this point it's like 11:30 and we have to meet to leave at 3:15!! So we go to one ride and the line is too long so went on another. Waited FOREVER. And now they have a new thing that you can't just put your backpack over on the other side, you have to pay $1 and put it in a locker while you ride the ride. Freaking ridiculous!! So we went on that one, which of course was like killing me now that I'm old and can't really do rides anymore.

Then it was so hot we went and stood on the bridge by that boat ride so we could get wet. Then we walked around and had lunch where so freak behind me was like totally invading my personal space. Took Jessica's drink the lady put on the counter and took a sip and then tried to give it back?? We were like um no way! So lunch was nasty, got a burger. Oh before we had lunch we went on the hammer head which she talks me into by saying it's like the revolution, which it IS NOT. So I was still feeling pukey when we ate. So barely ate anything.

Then we walked over to where the other water ride was and it was CLOSED. Jess decided she wanted to get this cool shirt that they paint so she paid for that and they said to come back in an hour. Walked back over to the water thing and got wet again and then decided to just stand in line for the ride and ride it while we were waiting for her shirt to get done. Got done just in time (yeah it took about an hour for the line!). Got totally drenched, like if I would have sat in the tub with my clothes on but it was hotter than hell so it was ok.

Then I sat in the shade while she ran to get her shirt. Got a snow cone cup thing and she got a lemonade and then it was time to meet the teacher. So the teacher meets up at the dolphin thing standing in the sun. I stood there for a few minutes and went to the shade. After forever we are finally leaving, get out and the tram is pulling up. She doesn't want us to ride the tram, wants us to walk to the friggin parking lot. By the time I got there my head was pounding so bad.

Got on the bus and right after we got on the rode I did a panic for a plastic bag and threw up. Poor kid, I'm sure she's never going to want to me to anywhere with her again lol. So I grossed out all the kids around me, but thank God someone grabbed bags before we left or it could have been a REALLY LONG ride home lol. Came home and went to take a shower and the freaking water was out!! So got a bag of ice and turned the fan on and went to sleep for awhile. I feel pretty good now :O)

Be careful what you wish for

A man walks into a restaurant with a full-grown ostrich behind him..The waitress asks them for their orders. The man says, 'A hamburger, fries and a coke,' and turns to the ostrich, 'What's yours?'

'I'll have the same,' says the ostrich.

A short time later the waitress returns with the order 'That will be $9.40 please,' and the man reaches into his pocket and pulls out the exact change for payment.

The next day, the man and the ostrich come again and the man says, 'A hamburger, fries and a coke.'

The ostrich says, 'I'll have the same.'Again the man reaches into his pocket and pays with exact change.

This becomes routine until the two enter again. 'The usual?' asks the waitress.

'No, this is Friday night, so I will have a steak, baked potato and a salad,' says the man.

'Same,' says the ostrich.

Shortly the waitress brings the order and says, 'That will be $32.62.'

Once again the man pulls the exact change out of his pocket and places it on the table.

The waitress cannot hold back her curiosity any longer. 'Excuse me, sir. How do you manage to always come up with the exact change in your pocket every time?'

'Well,' says the man, 'several years ago I was cleaning the attic and found an old lamp. When I rubbed it, a Genie appeared and offered me two wishes. My first wish was that if I ever had to pay for anything, I would just put my hand in my pocket and the right amount of money would always be there.'

'That's brilliant!' says the waitress. 'Most people would ask for a million dollars or something, but you'll always be as rich as you want for as long as you live!'

'That's right. Whether it's a gallon of milk or a Rolls Royce, the exact money is always there,' says the man.

The waitress asks, 'What's with the ostrich?'

The man sighs, pauses and answers, 'My second wish was for a tall chick with a big butt and long legs who agrees with everything I say.'

eww

So Trevor just told me he cleaned his spoon. He licked it off. Wiped it on his shirt and put it BACK IN THE DRAWER.

HORK

So I had a first yesterday..

I have a friend of mine who is lucky enough to live in a nice house that has a garage that she can park in. We have a garage too, but it's only for storing car pieces not actual driving cars. This friend of mine is always running over her kids bikes. I'm always like HOW does that happen? Can't you see the bike right there in the driveway?? She's like well no because I come out of the house and jump in the car and just go. One time she actually got waved down by the neighbors because she was DRAGGING a bike down the street lmao. I don't know how many bikes she's killed but her husband bought her a back up camera for her car. Probably cheaper in the long run than replacing all those bikes!

So yesterday we jump in the car to go pick up the girls from the bus stop and I'm backing up. Thump Thump. WTH??? OH man it was Trevor's scooter!! I put it in park and get out to check out the damage. Not too bad, just bent the long part of it. Still usable. But all I could think was OMG, I pulled a Carolyn lol.

Graduation Plans

So guess where I went this afternoon? I had to go to the Parent's Graduation Meeting for Jessica's 8th grade graduation. This was the last meeting (of 3) and I missed the middle one so I didn't really know too much of what was going on. Although it really sounded like almost everyone that was there today had missed the middle meeting too. Anyhow, I had volunteered before to help with the decorations. Well you know there are THE MOMS that do EVERYTHING at any school you go to. I'm not one of THOSE. But I don't mind helping out if someone needs help. So anyhow sounds like they pretty much had things planned. I'm in charge of getting the paper products for the cakes for after the ceremony. So one trip to Costco and/or Party America and that will all be taken care of. Also going to help set everything up the day before and the day of graduation. Most of the reason I went was because Jessica wants me to go with her on the 8th grade field trip on Friday. I don't really WANT to go but I will go since she really wants me to. They are going to an amusement park so I know she'll have fun. Just not so sure about myself lol. They aren't doing things like we did when I was that age. We'd get off the bus and be told what time to be back or you'd be in big trouble. No, they actually want parents to hang out with the kids....

Another one bites the dust!

Well Jessica's team ALMOST won today. They did AWESOME!! The coaches on the other hand. OMG 4 times they had batters out of order. WTH?? They changed up their batting order AFTER they gave the line up to the other team. Stupid stupid!! Jessica hit an AWESOME home run. It just amazes me what my girl can do :tears:. She is such an all around awesome girl. After the game one of the other moms was telling me this travel ball coach really wants her to come play for his team so we MIGHT do that. We'll find out more on Wed when Melissa has her game since he is supposed to be out at the field then.

Also today her teacher sent me an email that she is going to get an award at school for doing such an awesome job on a report at school. She did a power point presentation to music (no, I have no idea HOW she knows how to do that), for extra credit.

I feel like such a proud mommy!!

Oh today I went and did some grocery shopping. Trevor wanted to spend some of his money so we went to Wal Mart where he got some stupid Batman toy lol. I got my nephew a scooter and a helmet so he'd have his own to ride around on when the kids are playing. I was more excited to give it to him than he was to get it I think lol. He really did like it though :O) They rode around the whole time Jessica was playing her game.

So we are down to two more games for Melissa and then the season will be over! Melissa's team is having a party on Saturday. I think Scott is in love with her coach (just kidding but he gets all excited to talk to the guy, it's freaking annoying to me!) so I'm sure we'll have to go. Maybe my scrapbook gal with have a crop so I can beg out...

Good Morning!

So I'm up at 6:30 am. I must be getting old. Or been sleeping too much lol. So I'll do a recap of yesterday for you!

Yesterday morning started bright and early to get up and go to softball. Jessica had her first tournament game at 9:00, which meant that we had to be there at 8, which meant we had to leave the house by 7:30, which is why I was up at 6. Anyhow, got up and took my shower and made some pancakes since going to softball all morning and not eating breakfast is a very bad combination. Of course Jessica didn't want to EAT the pancakes because she hates breakfast foods. But she did manage to get 1/2 of one down. Everyone else ate just fine of course. So we decided we'd take 2 cars since Melissa had a game at 11 (had to be there around 10) and we knew they were going to overlap and they were at two different locations. So I left first with Jessica and Trevor.

Her game was at the Sports Complex. I had never been there before but it was soo nice! Bleachers where you could actually see what is going on with the game, no gopher holes for the kids to step in and a back stop that ALMOST stopped the foul balls from killing the fans. Their team actually did really well since they were playing the #1 team. They have the best team play the worst team which then makes the top bracket and the bottom bracket for the tournament. The game was 11 to 7 so we are now in the bottom bracket. Jessica of course was pissed off because the coach had her playing short stop instead of catcher. But we only have ONE MORE GAME if they lose the next one. I'm a bad mommy and am praying that they lose just so we don't have to deal with these idot coaches anymore! They play again on Monday (crap that's tomorrow!).

During the game Trevor went through his usual range of emotions. He was bored. I didn't bring his scooter out of the car since I wasn't sure if you were allowed to have scooters on that nice concrete. Apparently there was a sign somewhere but I never saw it and no one else cared because I saw lots of kids with scooters and skateboards. About half an hour into the game I had Scott go get his scooter out of car because he was driving me nuts complaining. That kept him busy for most of the game.

After the game we went over to Melissa's game. Scott's parents were there. It's been so nice this year with them coming to see the kids' games. They don't get out much at all so I'm sure it's really good for them too! Anyhow, Melissa's team lost too. They don't have tournaments though so it's not that big of deal and seriously most of the time they are more interested in what they are having for snack than if they won or lost. Scott was talking to the other coaches forEVer. God. So I grabbed Jess and left (Trevor went home with Grandma and Grandpa).

So I needed gas. Went to the big Safeway gas station since they are about the cheapest in town and I get 10 cents off a gallon if I spend $50 at time in their store, which let's face it, with 3 kids is totally easy to do. So everyone and their brother was there. I waited my turn and got my gas for $3.77 a gallon (what a bargain-NOT). So when I went to leave the guy behind me was up my ass and the car in front of me was too far over so I couldn't get out between him and the car across from him. I seriously thought the people behind me were going to shit their pants with all the excitment that was going on back there. Waving their arms, pointing to the too small hole between the cars in front of me, backing up but not enough for me to get out. Sheesh stupid people. Finally the car in front of me was done and they could get their gas.right.now. Seriously if things like this freak you out I think you need to step back and look at your "big picture" and be glad that this is the only thing you have to be upset about.

So off to the grocery store to hit the potty and get some stuff for dinner. I swear there is something wrong with Safeway's electrical. Everytime I go in there, no matter what kind of shoes I'm wearing I get shocked everytime I touch anything. Doesn't that seem like they have something wrong somewhere?

Then we went home. Melissa went to her friend's house and Scott was outside working on his car. Jessica was doing the I'm bored routine. So we decided to go to the movies. We went and saw the movie
Baby Mama. I thought it was good but Jessica didn't like it that much. Guess that's the difference between being 14 and 34 with 3 kids. Anyhow it was cute.

We went over to Barnes and Nobles when we were done so I could go pick up my book Half-Assed that I had ordered. It's written by one of my favorite bloggers. Of course I have like 3 books I need to read before I get to this one but now I have it :O)

After picking that up and watching my 14 year old flirt with the guy there :eyeroll: we did a little bit of the mall crawl. I went and bought myself a pair of running shoes so I can stop using my crappy shoes as an excuse as to why I don't exercise. I really want to start jogging and at least now I have some shoes. Hopefully they won't kill my feet.

That's about it for my exciting day. Sorry it's like 3 miles long!

HAPPY MOTHER"S DAY TO MY FRIENDS!

I got this in an email and thought all the Moms out there in blog land would enjoy it!

THE NEXT SURVIVOR SERIES

Six married men will be dropped on an island with one car and
3 kids each for six weeks.

Each kid will play two sports and either take music or dance classes.

There is no fast food.

Each man must take care of his 3 kids; keep his assigned house clean, correct all homework, and complete science projects, cook, do laundry, and pay a list of 'pretend' bills with not enough money.

In addition, each man will have to budget in money for groceries each week.

Each man must remember the birthdays of all their friends and relatives, and send cards out on time--no emailing.

Each man must also take each child to a doctor's appointment, dentist appointment and a haircut appointment.

He must make one unscheduled and inconvenient visit per child to the Urgent Care.

He must also make cookies or cupcakes for a social function.

Each man will be responsible for decorating his own assigned house, planting flowers outside and keeping it presentable at all times.

The men will only have access to television when the kids are asleep and all chores are done..

The men must shave their legs, wear makeup daily, adorn himself with jewelry, wear uncomfortable yet stylish shoes, keep fingernails polished and eyebrows groomed.

During one of the six weeks, the men will have to endure severe abdominal cramps, back aches, and have extreme, unexplained mood swings but never once complain or slow down from other duties.

They must attend weekly school meetings, church, and find time at least once to spend the afternoon at the park or a similar setting.

They will need to read a book to the kids each night and in the morning, feed them, dress them, brush their teeth and comb their hair by 7:00 am.

A test will be given at the end of the six weeks, and each father will be required to know all of the following information: each child's birthday, height, weight, shoe size, clothes size and doctor's name. Also the child's weight at birth, length, time of birth, and length of labor, each child's favorite color, middle name, favorite snack, favorite song, favorite drink, favorite toy, biggest fear and what they want to be when they grow up.

The kids vote them off the island based on performance. The last man wins only if...he still has enough energy to be intimate with his spouse at a moment's notice.

If the last man does win, he can play the game over and over and over again for the next 18-25 years eventually earning the right To be called Mother!

AND Here is another neat one!

This is for the mothers who have sat up all night with sick toddlers in their arms, wiping up puke laced with Oscar Mayer wieners and cherry Kool-Aid saying, 'It's okay honey, Mommy's here'.
Who have sat in rocking chairs for hours on end soothing crying babies who can't be comforted. This is for all the mothers who show up at work with spit-up in their hair and milk stains on their blouses and diapers in their purse.
For all the mothers who run carpools and make cookies and sew Halloween costumes. And all the mothers who DON'T.
This is for the mothers who gave birth to babies they'll never see. And the mothers who took those babies and gave them homes.
This is for the mothers whose priceless art collections are hanging on their refrigerator doors.
And for all the mothers who froze their buns on metal bleachers at football , hockey or soccer games instead of watching from the warmth of their cars, so that when their kids asked, 'Did you see me, Mom?' they could say, 'Of course, I wouldn't have missed it for the world,' and mean it.
This is for all the mothers who yell at their kids in the grocery store and swat them in despair when they stomp their feet and scream for ice cream before dinner. And for all the mothers who count to ten instead, but realize how child abuse happens.
This is for all the mothers who sat down with their children and explained all about making babies. And for all the (grand) mothers who wanted to, but just couldn't find the words.
This is for all the mothers who go hungry, so their children can eat.
For all the mothers who read 'Goodnight, Moon' twice a night for a year. And then read it again. 'Just one more time.'
This is for all the mothers who taught their children to tie their shoelaces before they started school. And for all the mothers who opted for Velcro instead.
This is for all the mothers who teach their sons to cook and their daughters to sink a jump shot.
This is for every mother whose head turns automatically when a little voice calls 'Mom?' in a crowd, even though they know their own offspring are at home -- or even away at college.
This is for all the mothers who sent their kids to school with stomach aches, assuring them they'd be just FINE once they got there, only to get calls from the school nurse an hour later asking them to please pick them up. Right away.
This is for mothers whose children have gone astray, who can't find the words to reach them.
For all the mothers who bite their lips until they bleed when their 14 year old dyes their hair green.
For all the mothers of the victims of recent school shootings, and the mothers of those who did the shooting.
For the mothers of the survivors, and the mothers who sat in front of their TVs in horror, hugging their child who just came home from school, safely.
This is for all the mothers who taught their children to be peaceful, and now pray they come home safely from a war.
What makes a good Mother anyway?
Is it patience? Compassion? Broad hips? The ability to nurse a baby, cook dinner, and sew a button on a shirt, all at the same time?
Or is it in her heart? Is it the ache you feel when you watch your son or daughter disappear down the street, walking to school alone for the very first time?
The jolt that t takes you from sleep to dread, from bed to crib at 2 A.M. to put your hand on the back of a sleeping baby?
The panic, years later, that comes again at 2 A.M. when you just want to hear their key in the door and know they are safe again in your home?
Or the need to flee from wherever you are and hug your child when you hear news of a fire, a car accident, a child dying?
The emotions of motherhood are universal and so our thoughts are for young mothers stumbling through diaper changes and sleep deprivation...
And mature mothers learning to let go.
For working mothers and stay-at-home mothers.
Single mothers and married mothers.
Mothers with money, mothers without.
This is for you all. For all of us.
Hang in there. In the end we can only do the best we can. Tell them every day that we love them. And pray.

Happy Mothers Day!

New Years Scrapbook Pages

A few Scrapbooking pages from last weekend.
